Cirrhosis of the
liver is the 11th leading cause of death in the U.S. About 25,000 people die from cirrhosis of the liver every year.
The diagnosis of cirrhosis is by clinical history, physical
examination and lab tests. Sometimes a liver biopsy is done. CT scan and ultrasound of the abdomen is also used.
The cirrhosis is treated by identifying the cause. Diuretics
are used to treat fluid retention. Bleeding from cirrhosis is treated peforming an endoscopy. If the liver condition progressively
